US President George W Bush is rapidly losing the plot in Iraq and his domestic policies too have been cast under a considerably large cloud of doubt. Mr. Bush’s authority has suffered set-back in the last few years and the US President is now leaving no stone unturned in an endeavor to salvage some lost pride and prestige.
In the face of constantly declining popularity of Mr. Bush both in the international arena and the domestic stage, the topmost man in the US political hierarchy has now started to shift the blame from his shoulders to the US Congress. He is trying to assert relevance when he is being dubbed as a lame duck and as a man who has lost the plot altogether.
He has reprimanded of the Democrat-led Congress for having failed to address vital domestic issues According to him, the Democrats are to be blamed for a stagnated Congress that has also failed to concentrate on crucial economic and economic issues, besides turning itself away from educational and healthcare matters that concern the Americans at the moment.
Although most of his allegations are true, such non-commitment was also observed during the Republican’s control of the Congress. At least, the Congress now is not flamboyant about war in Iraq.
Mr. Bush is also at the receiving end of the Turkish-American row that is threatening to spill over and over. Last week the US House of Representatives decided to label the killings of hundreds of thousands of Armenians in Turkey during the First World War as an act of genocide and this has led to Turkey threatening to cut the US access to its Incirlik Air Base in southern Turkey near the Syrian border.
The Democrats have been reported to backtrack on the decision to label the incident as genocide and this has flared up the internal turmoil even more. The Presidential race is gathering momentum but so are the internal bickering and attacks on opposition in the US. Not only Mr. Bush but the entire US political system is in turmoil at the moment.
