Seat of religion in moral and ethical battle

The Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego The Roman Catholic Church seems to be of no exception when it comes to religious corruption and moral issues. Recent despairing reports, suggesting the sexual abuse of children by some of the corrupt members in the church family suggest that the place of morality and spiritualism is not corruption-free. The recent $198.1 million San Diego church sex abuse settlement is one of numerous incidents that have plagued the US and the general Roman Catholic Church. Church administrators agree that recent corruption charges have drastically reduced people’s faith in the institution and donations have come down dramatically over recent times but at the same time there is a sincere effort on the part of the church to heal the bruised situation. Corruption does not only exist in the US catholic churches only. It is spread worldwide. One of the places where church child abuse is widespread is Ireland. But a very recent incident that has stunned the civilized society has occurred in the African country of Zimbabwe. Archbishop Pius Ncube of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, offered his resignation to Pope Benedict, which was duly accepted this September in light of adultery charges against him. Although he denies the charges which he blamed on the Robert Mugabe government’s agenda of defiling him due to his outspoken nature against the corrupt government, but there is no denying that corruption is prevalent in the church. The amounts of recent claims, charges and compensations certainly prove it. According to a church-commissioned study in the US, around 11,000 people across the country had accused priests of sexually abusing children since 1950 and the Boston Archdiocese had to settle cases of around 1,000 sexually-abused victims. Immense healing work needs to be done on the part of the church to recover lost confidence and the Vatican must issue the serious concern of the existence of pedophiles within the church. When children are abused in the abode of god, it is nothing but a place of evil. Source Image
