Increasing incidents of terrorism and violent activities all over the world have stressed concerned authorities to refurbish their security measures to secure the precious life of their folks as well as assets. After the shocking episode of 9/11, need for some tight security actions not only in the US but worldwide have been felt as desperately as never before in the past.
In an attempt to keep undesirable people at the bay, Congress in the wake of the 11 September 2001 attacks passed a new law stating, that all American citizens’ homecoming from Canada, Mexico and Bermuda by air will now require a passport in the United States. Earlier, American citizens returning home from these nations just needed a driving license or a birth certificate. The new rule is applicable only for air passengers, whilst travelers entering the US by sea or road do not come in the periphery of the current law.
The new rule may not affect the US economy in a great way but it certainly will prove a big jolt for the tourism industry of Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean who relies heavily on their tourism assets.
US have made her intentions clear that she is not going to leave any loopholes and take any chances vulnerable to the security of the nation. However, there seems nothing wrong in it as if security of the nation and people have become one of the primary concerns all over the places.
