The American dream of a black President moved a step closer to reality as Senator Barack Obama continued his dream run in ballot boxes. The magnitude of his popularity can be seen in the huge margins of victories that he has scored over Hillary Clinton. Another indicator is the ever rising panic in the Hillary camp which is evident through the change of the Campaign Manager and then the resignation of her deputy campaign manager.
Four victories over the weekend followed by three on Tuesday makes Obama the front runner in the race for the Democratic Presidential candidate for the first time. As per the Associated Press, he leads with 1,210 delegates while Hillary stands at 1,188. His slogan, Change we can has influenced the Americans to change their outlook and more and more whites are shifting base towards the Obama camp.
It is difficult to pin point the actual reason for Obama’s ever increasing popularity index, whether it is his looks, his influential speeches, his common man appeal, his ideologies or his campaigns. However, Hillary on the other hand who has remained stoic through a string of controversies is now resorting to emotional blackmail. With the next election due on March 4th, it gives Hillary enough time to put things in order. While the rigorous campaigning continues, Americans wait with a bated breath to know who reaches the 2,025 mark.

Hopefully, America has made wise decisions. I hope the American people really thought about the issues in play before casting their vote last November 4. It’s sad that the reality of how much people think about their political choices is less than studied. Some of us put more thought into whether to take out a short-term installment loans than what the issues are. Listen to this brief audio snippet for instance. It‘s a recent episode of “The Howard Stern Show,” posted courtesy of BPM Deejays of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Roving Reporter Sal roamed the streets of Harlem, New York to get the opinions of men and women, to see whether they supported Barack Obama or John McCain for President. In actual fact, this was to determine whether African-Americans would automatically vote for Barack Obama simply because he’s black. Sal reverses the candidates’ positions on issues like the pro-life argument, stem cell research, and the war in Iraq and who Sarah Palin is. Shockingly, many of the responses were brainless. Sal gets people to admit that they support Obama despite what policies he represented. This discussion has exposed something truly depressing. The truth is that many people are uninformed as to the issues. Many people try to play a part of popular opinions.
