Liberty is under threat in the very land where the Statue of Liberty stands high commemorating sagacity of a form of government preaching the sacred words of Freedom, Equality and Justice. The land of Washington and Thomas Jefferson that once led the Comity of Nations to fight the perpetual onslaughts on Liberty by British imperialism, Kaiser-attack and Hitler’s fascist choking of Europe, is now under siege by the policies of its own President George WMD Bush.

Is it the end of the celebrated land of liberty or the beginning of the fall of democracy there? I am really vexed to know that the land of dream that gave the world the slogan of freedom is now bracing for unassuming restrictions on its citizens. Critics of the administration are being cornered - banned from foreign tours, stripped at the airports for search and often harassed under Patriotic Law, roughed up and imprisoned by intelligence agencies - all that against which the American citizens fought to defeat the King George’s reactionary rule.

The suspected terror list is considerably widened by the Bush administration to include journalists, academics, activists and politicians critical of war mongering hawks at the White House. The frequent detention of Senators Edward Kennedy and John Lewis, the two prominent faces of anti-Bush campaign are indication of the clamping on liberty enforced by the Bush regime. To add more, the liberty conscious American citizens are being harassed, beaten and subject to acute humiliation for being defiant to visit proscribed nations like Syria or Iran even on humanitarian missions. Even the passers by foreign nationals are not spared.

Peace activists and the green pace supporters are at the receiving end. They are constantly monitored by the secret service and often put under custody for suspected terror links. More than 45000 activists among them are put under no fly list and grounded under patriotic law. Airport security apparatus have made more than stringent to harass peace activists. As many as 75000 lawful Americans are put under intelligence scanner for their anti-Bush rhetoric.
Bush unleashing a war against Liberty is putting a blot on American political system known for its fierce defense of freedom and justice. It seems that Bush is hell bent on converting the whole of the USA in to a Guantanamo prisoners’ camp with Abu Gharib like jails. His dealings with so called rogue states are making him more and more rouge as indicated by his domestic policies. Is it an American president turning to be Saddam Hussein or August Pinochet or Adlof Hitler? Mr. Bush please remember, every dictator had his fall and your attempt to arrest freedom is watched by the world public with disdain.
