Hillary Clinton has warded of serious competition for the Democrat nomination, so far.

Barack Obama, John Edwards, Bill Richardson and other democrats in the fray for the nomination have not been able to match here fund raising campaigns. Its early days and Clinton may have had got off to a good start but is America ready to put a woman president in the White House.

Another woman may not have got thus far, but a Clinton, wife of out of work former President is a different matter.

She has some grit and ambition. Having survived Bill Clinton and his messing around with Lewinsky and other woman, Hillary Rodham Clinton is there for the long haul.

The biases are already there. Many biographies about her have surfaced and the most have been harsh towards her. ‘Cash for rehash’ has not deterred her bid.

As the campaign picks up, issues and national debates is where her test lies in.

Her vote for the hated Iraq war has already been thrown at her. Lady Clinton wavered and brushed aside the issue as Bush’s war. Can America trust an individual who fails to claim responsibility for his or her actions?

Her love for power is well known. Though humiliated by President Bill Clinton caught off-guard playing cigar games with an intern, Hillary bore it all. The family survived and so did her First Lady status.

It’s issues like US foreign policy, faltering signs in domestic economy, containing and winning the oversee wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which will ultimately put a candidate from any party in the reckoning.

The Bush legacy has already put the odds in favour of the Democrats. Unless the party is able to throw up a strong candidate capable of tackling both domestic problems as well as improving upon its global leadership position, a better republican candidate can pull it off from the democrats, despite Bush’s presidency.

With America’s position in the global arena threatened by a resurgent Europe, a looming cold war with Russia and China, rise of Bric (Brazil, Russia, India & China) economies, the 2008 US Election is taking place at a crucial juncture. With a possible President Hillary Clinton with First Ladies Man Bill Clinton in place, is this US Presidency election going to mark a break from the past!
