To quench the never ending thrust to remain in power makes almost all leaders to offer lucrative ambitious proposals with in their country. I can say contestants for a particular election in different part of the world, try to gain votes through several promises made during their respective campaigns. So, Democratic Party candidate Hillary Clinton, wife of Bill Clinton, the 42nd president of United States is not exception.
Recently, Hillary Clinton, a United States Senator from New York was in news to refund $850,000 to the donors, viewing the money as tainted. Now Mrs. Clinton has come up with $110-billion-a-year health care insurance plan that will provide universal health coverage by compelling every American to take out insurance.
Earlier in 1993 she had introduced ‘The Clinton health care plan,’ sometimes it is called ‘Hillarycare’ by her opponents. While campaigning for the forth coming presidential elections in US, Hillary said,
Here in America people are dying because they couldn’t get the care they needed when they were sick. I’m here today because I believe it is long past time that this nation had an answer, I believe America is ready for change. It’s time to provide quality affordable health care for every American, And I intend to be the president who accomplishes that goal finally for our country.
Some key points of Hilary’s new Health Plan are given below:
• Every American will have to take health insurance.
• The families would receive tax credits to help pay for coverage. The tax credit would be designed to limit the premiums to a percentage of a family’s income.
• Federal subsidies would be provided for those who are not able to afford insurance.
• Large business houses will provide help to pay employees’ insurance.
• Small businesses will get tax benefit if they help their employees in health insurance.
If you believe on U.S. Census Bureau report, in 2005, about 46.6 million people in the United States were without health care insurance, including 8.3 million children.
Guessing about the comments of her opponents after leaking the news of her current health insurance plan, Hilary said,
I know my Republican opponents will try to equate this plan with government-run health care. Well don’t let them fool you again.
I think, Americans will hardly be able to digest this so called ‘Mandatory universal insurance for everyone.’ I can see it will escalate the cost for health care and shifting the costs burden from employers to employees. The plan doesn’t tell how much hospitals, doctors, nurses, insurance companies, risks underwriters, etc. can profit from it. Well! I am not for rigid, socialized healthcare system; but I expect something more drastic got to be done from former first lady of America!
